Husky farm in Lapland
The Old Pine Husky Lodge husky farm in Lapland is situated in Honkamaa, an area of the Keminmaa municipality in Finnish Lapland, with elevation around 80 m on sea level surrounded by old pine forests. We are located around 30 minutes from Lautiosaari and Tervola, 45 minutes from Kemi, 1h from Tornio and Haparanda, 1h30 from Rovaniemi and Oulu.
The varied terrain and isolated position, yet only 30 minutes from Kemi airport and 40 minutes from the major Kemi railway station and city center, make our place ideal for a romantic weekend or short stay with friends or in a group.
Hotel and restaurant in Lapland
Our Italian restaurant has become quite famous recently with lots of outstanding reviews from the press as well as from customers, both local and foreign. We are surely the only husky farm in Lapland that serves original pizza the Roman way! We have a full alcohol license and specialize in Tuscan wines, with due space for local beers from the outstanding Tornion Panimo.
The Old Pine Husky lodge has just undergone full renovation, with the addition of showers and toilets. This small, rustic hotel comprises six rooms (two twins with bunk bed, two doubles with possibility of extra bed, two family rooms with 4-5 beds). The experience of staying in a real husky farm in Lapland and living the musher’s life for a while is rather unique.
The lodge comprises also a beautiful kota with space for around 15 people and a traditional wood-fired sauna with two hot tubs for a complete Arctic Wellness experience.
Husky sled safari and other activities
Our dogs are mostly Siberian huskies, although we also have Alaskan malamutes and Greenland huskies. Our sled rides wind through the hilly terrain that surrounds our lodge, amidst the beautiful old pine tree forest, swamps and meadows. The Akkunus River is around 1 km away, there is a nice beach within 10 minutes walking distance.
